Rigondeaux to face Dickens in Liverpool

British super-bantamweight Jazza Dickens has agreed to face former world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux in Liverpool on March 12.

Rigondeaux, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but he was recently stripped of the WBA and WBO titles after failing to defend his title in the allotted period.

The WBA has since ordered the winner of the unification clash between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg to meet Rigondeaux in their next outing, but first the Cuban will make his debut in England by facing Dickens next month.

Dickins has won 21 of his 22 bouts as a professional, but the fight represents a huge step up in class for the Merseyside boxer, who is looking to make his name on the world scene.

The clash is scheduled to take place on the undercard of the WBO lightweight showdown between Terry Flanagan and Derry Mathews.
