Amir Khan: 'Floyd Mayweather Jr wants to fight me'

British boxer Amir Khan claims that he was approached by Floyd Mayweather Jr's manager over a future fight following the American's victory over Manny Pacquiao.

Amir Khan has claimed that he was approached by Floyd Mayweather Jr's team over a future fight following the American's victory over Manny Pacquiao on Saturday.

Mayweather took his unbeaten professional record to 48-0 by producing a technical masterclass to beat Pacquiao on a unanimous points decision in Las Vegas.

Khan was in attendance at the MGM Grand Arena and has said that Mayweather's manager Len Ellerbe sought him out to tell him "let's get that fight on".

The 38-year-old would be Khan's preferred opponent although the Briton also claims to have an invitation from the Pacquiao camp.

"I'm in a position where I could face either but I want Mayweather," he told BBC Sport.

"Financially they know it will be a big fight and it will be an exciting fight.

"I think Mayweather's team want the fight - but I've spoken to Manny's team and they've said the same thing, that they want a fight."

Khan, 28, takes on former light-welterweight world champion Chris Algieri on May 30.
