Amir Khan: 'I'll be stronger at higher weight'

Amir Khan insists that he is already feeling stronger at a higher weight ahead of his welterweight debut.

Amir Khan has claimed that he already feels stronger at 147lbs ahead of his first bout of 2014.

The British fighter was left disappointed when a proposed meeting with Floyd Mayweather Jnr failed to materialise, but he is confident of impressing at a higher weight.

"I've already moved up to 147lbs," Khan told reporters.

"I think now being at 147lbs it's only going to make me stronger, more healthier and happier when I go into a fight.

"The speed's gonna be there, the power, and the hunger as well. I won't be tired or weak, so I'm excited. The future holds a lot of things for me."

Luis Collazo, Robert Guerrero and Danny Garcia have all been rumoured to be possible opponents for Khan in his welterweight debut.
