Hearn: 'Froch could fight Golovkin in 2014'

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that a bout between Carl Froch and Gennady Golovkin would be "epic".

WBA middleweight champion Golovkin displayed his power on Saturday evening in stopping Matthew Macklin inside three rounds, which has resulted in Hearn proposing a fight between the Kazakh boxer and IBF and WBA super-middleweight title holder Froch.

Hearn told Sky Sports News: "Golovkin is one of most widely avoided fighters on the planet and fair play to Macklin for stepping up, but Golovkin is a freak of nature. He's a beast.

"According to HBO, he'd be willing to step up to super-middleweight and a fight with Carl Froch would just be epic."

Golovkin has stopped 24 of his 27 opponents in an unbeaten professional career, while Froch has won 31 out of 33 encounters.
