Groves to compete on Mayweather Jr undercard?

The WBC super-middleweight bout between champion Badou Jack and George Groves could take place on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather Jr's next fight on September 12.

Last month, it was announced that Groves's third attempt to win a world title would take place in the United States after a deal was struck between Sauerland Promotions and Mayweather Promotions.

It was soon rumoured that the contest could be pencilled in for the undercard of Mayweather's possible farewell match, and Jack, who is represented by the pound-for-pound king, has confirmed that his first title defence could take place in Las Vegas.

The 31-year-old told Fighthype.com: "I think it's going to be in September on Floyd's undercard against George Groves.

"I think I'm an overall better fighter than he is. I believe in myself and in my skill set. I believe I'm going to beat him."

In April, Jack surprised Anthony Dirrell to claim the belt, while Groves has recorded two successive wins since losing to Carl Froch at Wembley Stadium in May 2014.
