Carl Froch: 'Mikkel Kessler is not afraid of rematch'

Carl Froch says that both he and Mikkel Kessler want a rematch and hints that it could take place in Britain.

IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch has said that avenging his defeat to Mikkel Kessler is next on his agenda.

The Dane became the first man to defeat 'The Cobra' when they squared off in Denmark as part of the 'Super Six Series' in 2010.

Kessler took Froch's WBC strap that night, but has only fought twice since due to an eye injury.

The Nottingham fighter enjoys a good relationship with Kessler, and said that he will not be afraid to give him a rematch.

"Mikkel Kessler fought the best fight he's ever fought and he's a great fighter," Froch told Ringside. "He stands in range and has a fight with you, he'll box and move and he'll stand and exchange. He's not afraid to come forward and let shots go.

"We've had the conversation a few times, but he won't be worried about it. He's not scared, he's tough and he believes in himself and he means business. I think he's experienced enough to not let [home support] bother him, but he owes me a fight in England.

"He's got Brian Magee to take care of first in December and he's talked about wanting to come. He's said he'll fight any time, anywhere."

Froch also reiterated his desire to wipe out his loss to pound-for-pound contender Andre Ward.

"Mikkel Kessler's the big re-match for me, the one that will fill any stadium in the UK," he added. "Andre Ward, after that, would be the fight for me to secure my legacy and personally to correct the wrong that happened in Atlantic City that night."

The 35-year-old successfully defended his IBF strap for the first time against Yusaf Mack last Saturday.
