Chris Eubank Jr: 'Billy Joe Saunders defeat was a learning fight'

British middleweight Chris Eubank Jr says that last year's defeat to Billy Joe Saunders was a "learning fight".

British middleweight Chris Eubank Jr has revealed that he hopes to secure a rematch with Billy Joe Saunders in the early part of 2016.

Saunders is scheduled to face WBO champion Andy Lee on December 19 after securing a points victory over Eubank last November, but Eubank has indicated that he is keen for a second clash, insisting that his first defeat in the professional ranks was a "learning fight".

The 26-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It was a learning fight. It was my first 12-rounder. Previously, I'd only ever gone eight rounds. Mentally it had me relaxed in the earlier rounds. I paced myself too much in the early rounds.

"Once I realised I was completely at home and comfortable, I put the pressure on and it was no contest. I dominated the fight after five or six rounds.

"Do I agree with the decision? No. But it doesn't matter. He got the win. It was a great fight. I think it was voted one of the best middleweight fights that year and the public want to see the rematch. Hopefully we can get it on in early 2016."

Eubank will defend his interim WBA title against Tony Jeter in Sheffield on Saturday night.
