Oscar De La Hoya: "Sorry boxing fans"

Oscar De La Hoya tweets "sorry boxing fans" in response to Floyd Mayweather Jr's victory over Manny Pacquiao.

Oscar De La Hoya has suggested that Floyd Mayweather Jr's win against Manny Pacquiao was a defeat for boxing fans.

The American produced a tight defence whilst picking off his 36-year-old opponent with counter punches on his way to a unanimous points victory at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

However, after the bout, former 10-time world champion De La Hoya spoke of his dismay at the outcome of the match by simply tweeting "Sorry boxing fans", possibly in reference to Mayweather's approach to the fight.

De la Hoya, who won world titles at six different weights, fought both Mayweather and Pacquiao during a glittering 17-year professional career.
