Nathan Cleverly withdraws from Daniel Ammann bout with back injury

Nathan Cleverly withdraws from making his cruiserweight debut against Daniel Ammann due to a back injury.

Welsh boxer Nathan Cleverly has withdrawn from his fight against Australian Daniel Ammann due to a back injury.

The 26-year-old was due to make his debut at cruiserweight at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday, but has been advised to pull out on medical advice.

"It's a bitter blow as training had been going so well and I was looking forward to making my debut at cruiserweight", BBC Sport quotes Cleverly as saying. "For it to only happen a week before the fight is even more devastating."

The former WBO world light heavyweight champion suffered the problem during training last week.
