Chris Eubank admits to avoiding fights

Chris Eubank has admitted that he deliberately stayed away from certain fights during his boxing career.

Eubank suffered five losses and 45 wins from a 52-fight career that spanned 13 years, but the fighter who was nicknamed 'Simply the Best' said that he did not target bouts that he felt he could not win.

"For me I was just happy being known as one of the best, not the best," Eubank told Sky Sports News.

"Why would I want to fight someone like Roy Jones Jnr in his prime? It was the same with James Toney, it was career suicide. I had to be smart."

Eubank lost his last two fights to Carl Thompson in 1998.
