Brook: 'I'm motivated for Robles fight'

British welterweight Kell Brook has admitted that his encounter with Alvaro Robles on Saturday night is a "banana-skin fight".

Brook faces the prospect of competing for the IBF title against Shawn Porter if he can overcome the hard-hitting Mexican, and the Yorkshire boxer has revealed that he is eager to to put on a "great display" in Liverpool.

The 27-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "It is a very important fight. It is a banana-skin fight, and it is important because if I don't win this, there is no big one to follow.

"At the beginning of my training for this fight, I thought that it might be hard to get motivated but that hasn't been the case. I have been very motivated for the fight and I think that it is your instinct as an athlete, as a fighter, to beat your gym-mates in the gym and on runs, and get your personal best out of everything.

"I have found the willpower and determination and I will put on a great display on Saturday night."

Brook is currently unbeaten in 31 professional bouts, while Robles has 17 wins from 19 fights, with 15 victories coming inside the distance.
