Arum: 'Mayweather, Pacquiao rematch could happen'

Promoter Bob Arum has hinted that the rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao could take place in 2017.

Mayweather was present in Las Vegas on Saturday night as Pacquiao claimed the WBO welterweight title against Jessie Vargas, fuelling speculation that a second clash between two of the sport's pound-for-pound stars could be in the pipeline for next year.

Pacquiao representative Arum has indicated that no negotiations have been held but he admitted that it was looking increasingly likely that the Filipino could get another chance to try to defeat the American.

Arum told ESPN: "I give it 75%. Do I know it's gonna happen? No. Do I know if Floyd wants the fight? No.

"I know nothing more than the public knows at this point and what I observed."

In May 2015, Mayweather claimed a points win over Pacquiao, who went into the showdown with an injured shoulder.
