Olympic boxing referee found dead

Olympic boxing referee Garip Erkuyumcu has been found dead in his London hotel room, it was confirmed yesterday.

The 73-year-old suffered a suspected heart attack, but will now undergo an autopsy.

"Garip was loved and respected by everyone who knew him and he will be missed by all of us at AIBA," said C.K. Wu, the president of the governing body.

Erkuyumcu's body will be flown back to his native Turkey next week.
