Darren O'Neill produces classy performance

Ireland's Darren O'Neill has advanced to the next round of the Olympic middleweight boxing tournament with a victory over Nigeria's Muideen Akanji.

O'Neill took advantage of Akanji's sloppy defence in the first round and produced the silkier work to take a 4-2 lead into the second round.

Akanji was stunned by a big left hand from the Irishman in the second, forcing him to backpedal while his legs looked to be bandy and unsteady.

The Nigerian managed to regain some composure in the third round, but still could not get himself back into the fight, which the judges scored 15-6 in favour of O'Neill.
