Luke McCormack settles for Commonwealth bronze

England's Luke McCormack has been forced to settle for a bronze medal in the men's 64kg category at the Commonwealth Games.

McCormack made it through to the semi-finals and needed to beat Namibia's Jonas Jonas to progress through to the gold-medal bout, but the 22-year-old was beaten on a split decision.

A closely-fought contest saw judges from Algeria and Korea award the fight to McCormack 30-37 and 29-28 respectively, but the other three judges all ruled in favour of Jonas.

The Namibian was given two scores of 29-28 and one of 30-27 to give him victory by the narrowest of margins, condemning McCormack to bronze.

Jonas will now take on Canadian Thomas Blumenfeld in the gold-medal fight on Saturday, while the McCormack family could still be in with a chance of gold when Luke's twin brother Pat takes on Manoj Kumar.
