Scott Brooks: 'Kevin Durant will need to become a playmaker'

Kevin Durant will be given a bigger role as a playmaker this season, according to Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks.

Scott Brooks has claimed that Kevin Durant will become more of a playmaker this season for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant's scoring record has been a key part of the team's success in recent seasons, but the Thunder head coach wants him to provide more for his teammates as they look to deal with the absence of the injured Russell Westbrook.

"We want all of our playmakers to continue to look for guys that need help scoring. We have guys that can do a lot of things offensively, but they need help," Brooks told The Oklahoman.

"And [Durant] has the ability to get shots for Thabo [Sefolosha], get shots for Serge [Ibaka]. Once we start knocking some of those shots in, I think it's going to add to what we do offensively."

Durant averaged 4.6 assists per game last season.
