NBA denies plans for four-point line

The NBA denies that it is planning to bring in a four-point shot or expand the court.

The NBA has denied that it is planning to bring in a four-point shot in the future.

Earlier this week, ESPN reported that the league has discussed plans to bring in a four-point line or expand the court during the All-Star weekend earlier this month.

NBA spokesman Tim Franks said in a statement: "No-one at the NBA, nor the competition committee, has had any serious conversations about increasing the size of the floor or adding a four-point line.

"Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe were entertaining a line of questioning about out of the box ideas and ESPN.com chose to make a story that doesn't exist."

The existing court dimensions have been in place since the 1940s.
