Report: New York Knicks hope to re-sign Carmelo Anthony

The New York Knicks are reportedly optimistic that they will be able to re-sign forward Carmelo Anthony this off-season.

The New York Knicks are reportedly optimistic over their chances of re-signing Carmelo Anthony.

The forward's agent confirmed that he will opt out the final year of his contract with the team earlier this week in order to test the free agency market.

However, team sources have told ESPN that the Knicks are confident that Anthony will agree a new deal with the team, having "connected" with recently-appointed president Phil Jackson.

Numerous other NBA sides have been linked with Anthony, including the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks.
