Report: New Orleans Pelicans eye Alvin Gentry as new coach

Pelicans eye Gentry as new coach?

The New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly been granted permission to speak with Golden State Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry over their coaching vacancy.

New Orleans are without a coach after the dismissal of Monty Williams a week ago.

According to ESPN, former Phoenix Suns coach Gentry has impressed the Pelicans this season by helping the Warriors to a league-high 67-win season.

Other names linked with the Pelicans post are current Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, former Houston Rockets and New York Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy and Scott Brooks, who was recently fired as coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
