Jordan apologises for reneging on Mavericks deal

DeAndre Jordan has issued an apology to the Dallas Mavericks after breaking a verbal agreement to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 26-year-old was available on the free-agent market and appeared to have agreed a deal to sign with the Mavericks, but reneged on his promise to sign a max contract to instead remain with the Clippers.

He wrote on Twitter: "I want to publicly apologise to one of the best owners in the world @MCuban, the @DallasMavs and their fans.

"I am humbled by @DallasMavs & @MCuban kindness and understanding. I am sorry to have a change of heart."

Jordan has been criticised by Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons for his decision.
