Steve Kerr hails "amazing" Golden State Warriors after NBA triumph

Head coach Steve Kerr praises each and every one of his players after the Golden State Warriors won their first NBA title in 40 years.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has described his team as "an amazing group of guys" after they won the NBA title in his first season as a coach.

The Warriors ended a 40-year wait for a championship by overcoming LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2 in the best-of-seven series.

They sealed the victory with a 105-97 win in Cleveland last night and Kerr was quick to praise each and every one of his team after making some big decisions to drop players throughout the season.

"The sacrifice every guy made from Andre [Iguodala] and David [Lee] stepping away from the starting lineup, we just played," Kerr told reporters after the match. "And they were all in it just to win. That's all that mattered. This is an amazing group of guys."

Iguodala was named Finals MVP, but didn't start a single game in the regular season and was only inserted into the starting lineup in game four of the Finals.

Golden State went on to win three in a row since his inclusion to come from 2-1 down and win the title, with Iguodala recognised for his improved scoring and superior defence on Cleveland superstar James.
