Andre Iguodala named NBA Finals MVP

Andre Iguodala has been named the NBA Finals MVP after helping the Golden State Warriors to their first title since 1975.

The Warriors clinched a 4-2 series triumph with a 105-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena, and Iguodala's efforts over the six games were recognised in the post-game ceremony.

Iguodala had spent the entire season as a bench player before being drafted into the starting lineup in game four, and his performances defending against LeBron James and contributions on offense were enough to see him win the award ahead of the Cavaliers forward and teammate Stephen Curry.

Some of the Cavaliers fans remaining in the arena jeered the decision after James was not given the award, despite leading both teams in points, rebounds and assists in the series.

Iguodala is the first player to be named NBA Finals MVP without starting every game of the series.
