Detroit Pistons' Darrun Hilliard undergoes surgery for broken nose

Detroit Pistons guard Darrun Hilliard has undergone surgery to repair a broken nose ahead of the 2015-16 season.

The Pistons selected the 22-year-old in the second round of the 2015 Draft, but Hilliard sustained the injury when was playing a pick-up game of basketball.

The operation was a success, but Hillard will have to wear a protective mask for almost a month, although he will still be allowed on the court for his side's training camp.

The club said in a statement: "The Detroit Pistons announced today that guard Darrun Hilliard underwent surgery to repair a broken nose suffered while playing pick-up basketball last week."

The Pistons open their season against the Atlanta Hawks on October 27.
