Cleveland Cavaliers step up search for new head coach

The Cleveland Cavaliers step up their search for a new head coach, having reportedly interviewed two coaches from the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have stepped up their search for a new head coach, with the team reportedly interviewing Los Angeles Clippers associate head coach Alvin Gentry and his assistant Tyronn Lue.

According to the NBA's website, officials from Cleveland met with Gentry and Lue on Friday, with Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert also thought to be present.

The Clippers pair are not the only coaches in the frame, however, with the Cavs having looked at around 12 options following the sacking of Mike Brown in May.

Another prospect thought to be in consideration is former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach David Blatt, who retired on Thursday to pursue a career in the NBA.
