Blessing Okagbare has revealed that remaining patient was the key in her successful bid to be crowned Commonwealth champion in the 100m on Monday night.
The Nigerian athlete was pushed by Veronica Campbell-Brown in the early stages of the final before storming away from the field to collect a gold medal, and she believes that her tactics were perfect.
"My coach said to stay as patient as you can," Okagbare told BBC Sport. "After 70m it just felt easy.
"My work has been based just on the Commonwealth Games and I was happy just to be able to put up a show."
Okagbare will also compete in the 200m and long jump in Glasgow.
