France's Berengere Schuh: "I can beat the world champion"

France's Berengere Schuh is relishing her match with reigning world champion Maja Jager in the women's archery competition in Baku.

Berengere Schuh of France has set up a showdown with world champion Maja Jager after beating Esther Deden of the Netherlands in the 1/16 round of the women's archery competition.

The 31-year-old beat Deden, 20, of the Netherlands 6-4 at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium to move through to a clash with Denmark's Jager in the next round.

"I know she's strong. I am too and I know I can beat her. Just because she was second in qualification, that doesn't mean I'm going to let her win."

"What happened with Natalia Valeeva proves you can expect anything, especially in a setting like this. It has proven yet again that ranking and experience is not everything. It's a pity because I would have loved to shoot against her myself."

Valeeva of Italy was denied a third gold medal of the Games when she was defeated by Georgia's Yuliya Lobzhenidze.
