New York Giants comeback ends Washington Redskins season

The New York Giants keep their NFL playoff hopes alive with a 24-17 victory over the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field.

The New York Giants have gone 5-7 in the NFC East with a 24-17 comeback victory over the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field.

Alfred Morris took a hand-off from Robert Griffin III and darted over the line from a yard to put the home side ahead with their first drive of the match.

The quarterback then fired down the seam to Logan Paulsen for a 19-yard touchdown early in the second quarter.

However, Andre Brown began the Giants' fightback with a 23-yard run, before Eli Manning found Brandon Myers from 22 yards to draw his team level before half time.

Kai Forbath edged the Redskins back in front with the only points of a tight third quarter, but Tom Coughlin's men seized the initiative for the first time just 50 seconds into the final period.

It was Brown again who got the score, riding a few tackles and stretching his arm across the line.

His namesake Josh Brown stretched the gap to seven points with a 39-yard field goal with just over two-and-a-half minutes left before the end.

The night ended in controversy, with the Redskins furious after one official signalled for a first down and moved the chains, but following an incomplete pass it was taken to fourth down and one.

Unfortunately for the Redskins, their season is now over with a record of 3-9 in the NFC East.
