Greg Schiano: 'I understand sacking'

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano admits that he understands the decision of the club's owners to fire him following their 4-12 season.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano has admitted that he understands the decision of the club to fire him.

The Glazer family deemed that the club were not moving forward under the former Rutgers man and decided to part company with him and general manager Mark Dominik after a 4-12 season, that was embroiled in controversy.

"I woke up this morning planning to be the head coach of the Bucs," Schiano told reporters. "So that tells you that I believed this was going to take some more time.

"But I understand when I got into this thing, I'm a big boy and I understood what I was walking into. The National Football League, a quarter of the coaches turn over every year."

Schiano finished in Tampa Bay with an 11-21 record in his 32 games in charge.
