Jason Licht: 'We knew Tom Brady's quality immediately'

New Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht reveals that he knew Tom Brady would be a quality NFL player during his first training camp with the New England Patriots.

New Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht has revealed that he knew Tom Brady would be a star in the NFL during his first training camp with the New England Patriots.

Licht was part of the backroom staff with the Patriots when they drafted Brady in the sixth round of the 2000 Draft and has watched the 36-year-old become of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.

Licht told ProFootballTalk.com: "I would say the first training camp when the coaches were buzzing that they had never seen a guy as smart and as in tune with the offense and the defense at the same time.

"I just remember he was correcting coaches out on the field during drills and getting into a shouting match with a particular coach then going back to the film room and finding out that Tom Brady was right.

"And that story about him going up and shaking Mr. Kraft's hand and saying this is the best pick you've ever made, that is true and obviously the guy is confident."

Licht was with the Patriots between 1999 and 2002, and again in 2008.
