Justin Smith says that he will be ready for the playoffs despite needing surgery to repair a triceps tear.

Justin Smith has said that he will play for the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs, despite sustaining a partially torn triceps tendon.

The defensive tackle missed last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks with the injury, and will not return for the final regular season game against the Arizona Cardinals tomorrow.

The 33-year-old told the Sacramento Bee: "Yeah, I'd be ready to play. Just go with it. That's all you can do."

Smith risks completely tearing the tendon if he returns, but has said that he will need to undergo surgery regardless.

The 49ers are already guaranteed at least a wildcard spot in the postseason, and can clinch the NFC West title with a win tomorrow.
