San Francisco 49ers place NaVorro Bowman, Glenn Dorsey on injured reserve

The San Francisco 49ers confirm that they have ended the seasons of linebacker NaVorro Bowman and defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey by placing them on injured reserve.

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they have placed linebacker NaVorro Bowman and defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey on season-ending injured reserve.

Bowman sustained a serious ACL and MCL injury in his side's defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game in January, and spent the majority of the off-season rehabilitating from surgery.

The 49ers placed the 26-year-old on the physically unable to perform list during training camp, and the club felt that he had recovered enough to activate him to the active roster earlier this week.

However, Jim Harbaugh's side have taken the decision to end his season without the linebacker playing a single down.

Dorsey sustained a torn bicep during the off-season, but recovered enough to return to the active roster three weeks ago. The 29-year-old was inactive for his side's past three matches, and as a result they have placed him on season-ending IR.

The 49ers promoted cornerback Marcus Cromartie and offensive guard Andrew Tiller to the active roster to replace Bowman and Dorsey.
