Philip Rivers: 'San Diego Chargers can't over-think against Denver Broncos'

Philip Rivers does not want to focus solely on the previous two season meetings against the Denver Broncos.

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has insisted that his side cannot focus too much on the previous two encounters against the Denver Broncos this season as they prepare to meet them in the divisional playoffs.

Rivers said that although in some ways it is an advantage to face a team for the third time in a single campaign, it is equally important not to over-think what has happened in past meetings.

"You have two games on tape," he told the club's official website. "You have 16 games in a season, two that you've played them. You can over-think some things. They did this and this, so let's do this and that, and we can get this. You can almost out-think yourself or out plan.

"As a quarterback, I can out-think myself and you out think what they might do or did there, what they did on this situation or that.

"So I think it's important just to plan like you always have, prepare like you always have, study the same, and be prepared for something new."

The Chargers finished the regular season with a 9-7 record.
