Half-Time Report: Antonio Gates scores put San Diego Chargers in control against Jacksonville Jaguars

Gates scores put Chargers in control

Two late scores from Antonio Gates have put the San Diego Chargers in control of their NFL clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field.

Blake Bortles had a bright start for the Jaguars by completing a series of passes, including one 25-yard effort to Allen Robinson, which put his team in field-goal range and Jason Myers fired his kick through the posts to hand the home side the lead.

The Jaguars extended their advantage through the boot of Myers as the kicker held his composure from 51 yards. However, the Chargers scored the first touchdown of the match when Philip Rivers manoeuvred his team into the redzone before firing to Dontrelle Inman for a two-yard score.

Bortles cost his side team a touchdown by stepping over the line of scrimmage when he delivered the ball to Robinson in the endzone, but Myers notched his third kick of the game to put the Jaguars back into the lead.

The Chargers showed resilience to press ahead once again as Rivers launched the ball down the middle of the field to Gates, who made a contested catch for a touchdown.

Bortles committed another mistake to hand the Chargers good field position following an interception from Manti Te'o, and Rivers punished his opposite number by connecting with Gates for a second time for a touchdown.
