LeSean McCoy breaks Philadelphia Eagles rushing record

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy breaks the 64-year-old franchise record for single-game rushing yards.

Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy broke the franchise record for single-game rushing yards during yesterday's 34-20 win over the Detroit Lions.

McCoy ran for 217 yards, including 148 in the fourth quarter alone, to break the previous record of 205 yards held by Hall of Famer Steve van Buren for 64 years.

The 25-year-old produced the record-breaking performance in terrible conditions as a blizzard engulfed the Lincoln Financial Field, but he admits that he was helped by the space afforded to him.

"It was tough, to be honest. But the guys were giving me so much room. I actually like to run in between the tackles," McCoy told The AP.

The win lifts the Eagles to the top of the NFC East, one win above the Dallas Cowboys, who play the Chicago Bears tonight.
