Derek Carr: 'I'm ready to wait for my chance'

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr insists that he is prepared to wait for his chance the become the club's starter behind Matt Schaub.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has revealed that he is prepared to wait for his chance to become the club's starter.

The Raiders drafted Carr 36th overall in the second round of the 2014 Draft, and he will now compete with veteran Matt Schaub - who the club acquired in the off-season - to become the number one signal caller.

Carr told reporters: "With them selecting me, I know their thoughts. They want me to come in, work hard, and compete. Whenever I'm the quarterback, then great.

"To me, it doesn't matter what the situation is. If I'm a starter, if I'm a backup there to learn, my number one goal is to help the Raiders win.

"I'm going to do that. If I'm the starter, I'm going to do that on the field, do my best to help them win. If I'm the backup, my role doesn't change. I'm still going to help the team win."

Carr threw for 5,083 yards along with 50 touchdowns to eight interceptions in the 2013 season for the Fresno State Bulldogs.
