Raiders' Watson ruptures Achilles tendon

Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Menelik Watson could be ruled out of the 2015 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon.

The Manchester-born lineman was selected in the second round of the 2013 Draft by the Raiders, and became a starter in their offensive line in the 2014 campaign.

However, Watson's 2015 season is now in jeopardy after he sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during his side's pre-season defeat to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

He said on Twitter: "Ruptured Achilles tendon. I will be back stronger than ever that's a promise. Main thing is supporting the team right now. #RaiderNation."

Watson has played 17 games for the Raiders in his two years at the club.
