Half-Time Report: Chicago Bears lead in Jay Cutler's return

Chicago Bears lead in Cutler's return

Chicago Bears lead 16-14 against the Oakland Raiders as they look to avoid a 0-4 start to the season.

Jay Cutler led his Chicago team down the field on his return to start the game, finding slot receiver Eddie Royal for the seven-yard touchdown, although Robbie Gould missed the extra point after the Raiders blocked the attempt.

Oakland replied in the second quarter with Derek Carr finding Amari Cooper for a 25-yard touchdown after the play was initially called an incomplete pass, but it was overturned thanks to a correct challenge from head coach Jack Del Rio.

The Bears quarterback Cutler then fumbled a snap and Oakland would punish them minutes later, former Washington Redskins running back Roy Helu catching a short Carr pass for a four-yard score.

Chicago would reply in the next drive, with Cutler finding Martellus Bennett in the endzone to bring his team within one point and just a few plays later, Pernell McPhee picked off a Carr pass that led to a Gould field goal.

Cutler had another chance to score just before the half but the quarterback took a sack and the clock was allowed to run down to give the Bears a two-point lead at half time.
