Eli Manning proud of first win of season

Manning proud of first win

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has expressed his pride at helping his side to their first win of the season.

The Giants ended a dismal start, which saw them lose their opening six games, with a 23-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings last night, with Manning throwing 23 of 39 for 200 yards and one touchdown.

Manning also avoided throwing any interceptions, which have proved a nagging problem for him this season, and he believes that the Giants' persistence was the key to ending their poor form.

"The players and coaches have great pride in what we're doing. We just had to keep going, get rid of some of the mistakes and play the way we need to play," Manning told The AP.

Despite the win, the Giants remain bottom of the NFC East ahead of Sunday's trip to divisional rivals the Philadelphia Eagles.
