Eli Manning aiming to emulate older brother Peyton

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning says that watching his brother play at such a high levels shows that he can improve too, despite turning 33 before next season.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has said that he hopes to continually improve so that he can play into his late 30s like his brother Peyton.

The elder Manning is having a record-breaking season with the Denver Broncos, two years after almost retiring when a back injury sidelined him as an Indianapolis Colts player.

Eli, 32, whose Giants endured a disappointing 7-9 campaign, hopes that he can be at Peyton's level in five years' time.

He told reporters: "You can always get better and I think Peyton having the best year of his career at 37 shows that. So I know I can get better and that I can make improvements. I can play at a high level and definitely improve my game these next years and get back to making the playoffs and winning championships for the Giants.

"I need to play better and I didn't play in certain games as good as I needed to. Some games were just tough and we got outplayed on some games, but I can definitely improve. I need to and I will."

Manning has twice led the Giants to Super Bowl victory, but the team have failed to qualify for the playoffs since their 2011 triumph.
