Pre-season roundup: New York Giants edge out New England Patriots

Sports Mole rounds up the final round of pre-season matches in the NFL ahead of the 2015 season.

The New England Patriots signed off their pre-season campaign with a defeat at the hands of the New York Giants.

Both sides rested their starters for the majority of the contest, and Giants' backup Ryan Nassib led his side to victory as Chris Boswell kicked four field goals although the visitors were made to make a stand in the endzone as Damontre Moore picked off Ryan Lindley to secure the 12-9 win.

The Cincinnati Bengals edged out the Indianapolis Colts in a low-scoring affair at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Tom Obarksi kicked a late field goal to hand the Bengals the 9-6 victory after the clubs had cancelled each other out for the majority of the match despite previous kicks from Mike Nugent and Adam Vinatieri.

The New York Jets ended their pre-season campaign with a 24-18 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Matt Flynn threw two touchdown passes, while Daryl Richardson also recorded a score for the AFC East side to guide them to the win.

The Green Bay Packers came from 10 points down to defeat the New Orleans Saints 38-10 in their match at Lambeau Field.

The Detroit Lions staged a comeback win over the Buffalo Bills to record a 17-10 win in their pre-season clash.

The Bills took the lead when Ron Brooks returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown, but the Lions fought back through a strike from Kellen Moore to TJ Jones and a run from Zach Zenner secured the victory.

The Carolina Panthers hammered the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-6 to finish 3-1 in their pre-season campaign.

Jordan Todman ran in for a 49-yard score, while Joe Webb found Marcus Lucas for a 23-yard touchdown in the second quarter, which was enough to secure the victory.

A late field goal from Jason Myers was enough to secure a 17-16 win for the Jacksonville Jaguars in their pre-season game against the Washington Redskins.

Rashad Ross's score was cancelled out by the Jaguars' Corey Grant, and the home side went ahead through Bryan Walters only for Mack Brown to tie the score with a run. However, Myers decided the contest with a kick from 47 yards in the fourth quarter.

The Tennessee Titans defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-17 in their final pre-season match.

Titans quarterbacks Marcus Mariota, Zach Mettenberger and Alex Tanney all threw one touchdown each to guide their side to the win, despite a two-score display from Vikings signal-caller Taylor Heinicke.

The Kansas City Chiefs secured their fourth-successive win in pre-season with a 24-17 win over the St Louis Rams.

A score from Spencer Ware and touchdown strikes from Chase Daniel and Aaron Murray were enough to clinch the victory, despite a rushing score from Isaiah Pead and an interception return from Cody Davis.

The Dallas Cowboys edged out the Houston Texans 21-14 in their pre-season finale at AT & T Stadium.

The San Francisco 49ers recorded a narrow win over the San Diego Chargers to sign off their pre-season with a success.

Dylan Thompson fired a 70-yard touchdown pass to Bruce Ellington and the hosts made the two-point conversion, but Richard Crawford responded with an interception return for a touchdown.

The conversion proved to be the difference between the sides as a second-half score from Rory Anderson was cancelled out by Tyrell Willliams, but the 49ers held out for the win.

The Seattle Seahawks ended their pre-season on a high note courtesy of a 31-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
