Mark Dominik: Darrelle Revis a "great acquisition" for New England Patriots

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik believes that the signing of Darrelle Revis is an excellent move by the New England Patriots.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik believes that Darrelle Revis will be a great signing for the New England Patriots.

Dominik traded a first-round pick in the 2013 Draft to take Revis to the Buccaneers from the New York Jets just months after he sustained a torn ACL, but after a poor year Dominik along with head coach Greg Schiano were fired.

The new regime at the Bucs felt that the 28-year-old didn't fit into their system, so released him to the open market where he was snagged up by the Patriots.

When asked if Revis's knee injury is still an issue, Dominik told ESPN: "No. I think Darrelle played last year a little cautious throughout most of the year, just because he wasn't quite sure.

"And I don't blame him. Coming off an ACL as a cornerback, a lot of guys have made that transition, and sometimes it takes more than a year.

"I think Darrelle still played at a very high level, we put him in some tough spots in terms of coverage, but at the end of the day he still was what I thought was the elite corner that we traded for. That's why I think it's a great acquisition for the New England Patriots."

Revis recorded 50 tackles, two interceptions and a sack last season for the Bucs.
