Tom Brady: 'Super Bowl triumph is not tainted by deflategate scandal'

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady insists that his side's Super Bowl win over the Seattle Seahawks has not been tarnished by the deflategate scandal.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is adamant that his side's triumph over the Seattle Seahawks has not been tainted by the deflategate scandal.

An investigation by Ted Wells found Brady to be generally aware of the deliberate deflation of his side's footballs by a member of the Patriots' equipment staff in their AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

However, Brady has insisted that the incident should not overshadow New England's Super Bowl XLIX success due to the effort of his teammates over the course of the year.

When asked if the success was tainted, Brady said at an event: "Absolutely not."

He added: "Because we earned and achieved everything that we got this year as a team. I'm proud of that and the fans should be, too."

The 37-year-old could face a four-game ban as punishment for his knowledge of the events surrounding the scandal.
