Mike Tannenbaum: 'We'll have no problem paying Ryan Tannehill lucrative deal'

Miami Dolphins VP of football operations Mike Tannenbaum is adamant that the club will have no issue in giving quarterback Ryan Tannehill a lucrative contract.

Miami Dolphins vice-president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum has insisted that the club will have no problem paying Ryan Tannehill a lucrative contract because they are convinced he is a franchise quarterback.

The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the AFC East side, and has been a steady performer in his first three campaigns in the NFL, despite the club's failure to reach the playoffs.

Tannenbaum is adamant that Tannehill is the man to drive the Dolphins forward and will have no issue in paying the quarterback a deal over $100m (£66.8m).

"If you have one in the building you can win with you want to pay him as reasonably as possible," Tannenbaum told reporters. "The good thing is we have one.

"He checks a lot of boxes. He's young. We drafted him. He's an incredibly hard worker. Football is important to him. There are a lot of things, a lot of redeeming values."

Tannehill has thrown for 11,252 yards along with 63 touchdowns to 42 interceptions in his three years in the NFL.
