Offensive tackle Eric Fisher says that he is ready to get to work after being picked first by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2013 NFL draft.

Eric Fisher has said that he is eager to get to work after being selected first in the 2013 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The AFC West side chose the Central Michigan offensive tackle ahead of Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M.

After being picked, the 22-year-old said: "This is so surreal. I'm ready to get to work right now. I'm ready to start playing some football. I can't process what's going on right now.

"That's a lot of love for the big boys up front, which we usually don't get."

It is the first time since 2008 that the team with the first pick did not draft a quarterback.
