Oakland Raiders crushed by Houston Texans

Raiders crushed by Texans

The Houston Texans claimed their second win of the 2014 NFL season by thrashing the Oakland Raiders 30-14 this evening.

The visitors caught the Raiders out with a surprise move in the first quarter, bringing in defensive end JJ Watt at tight end, setting him up for his first NFL touchdown as Ryan Fitzpatrick tossed the ball his way.

The AFC South side increased their advantage when Arian Foster was handed the ball, leaving the running back to power his way for the second touchdown of the game.

Rookie Raiders quarterback Derek Carr tried to get his side back into the game before the break by making a 41-yard rush down the line, but threw an interception later in the drive, giving the Texans the chance to kick a field goal.

Houston continued their dominant display in the third as Fitzpatrick made his second touchdown pass of the day, connecting with DeAndre Hopkins from 12 yards out.

The Raiders finally got off the mark at the start of the fourth quarter, with Darren McFadden completing a 79-yard drive with a one-yard rush for a touchdown.

Randy Bullock kicked his third and longest field goal of the day late on, splitting the posts with a 46-yard effort to end any hopes of a Raiders comeback.

Carr did set up a consolation score at the end of the game for the hosts, lobbing the ball to the back of the endzone for James Jones to gather.
