Jordy Nelson: 'We gave NFC championship away'

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson feels that his side gave away the NFC championship game in their loss to the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson believes that his side threw away the NFC championship game in their defeat to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Packers held a 12-point lead in the final two minutes of the game before allowing Russell Wilson to run in for a touchdown. They then failed to gather an onside kick as Brandon Bostick fumbled the ball, allowing Marshawn Lynch to hand Seattle the lead.

Mason Crosby managed to send the game to overtime with a late kick, but Wilson sent his team to the Super Bowl with a touchdown strike to Jermaine Kearse.

When asked if the Packers let the match slip away, Nelson told NFL Network: "Absolutely. This season we've been able to finish out games and we just didn't maximise our opportunities.

"Seattle made the big plays when they needed to, but we definitely feel we let one get away, and you can't let those opportunities get away because they don't come very often."

The Packers have failed to reach the Super Bowl since the 2010 season.
