Greg Hardy banned for 10 games for domestic violence

The Dallas Cowboys will be without defensive end Greg Hardy for the first 10 games of the season, after the NFL banned him for violating its Personal Conduct Policy.

The NFL has suspended Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy for the first 10 games of the 2015 season.

Hardy was involved in a domestic violence incident with former girlfriend Nicole Holder, and the league has found sufficient evidence to suggest that he violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy.

He missed most of last season as he was put on the Commissioner's exempt list while the league conducted its investigation.

An NFL statement reads: "The NFL's investigation concluded that Hardy violated the Personal Conduct Policy by using physical force against Nicole Holder in at least four instances.

"The net effect of these acts was that Ms. Holder was severely traumatised and sustained a range of injuries, including bruises and scratches on her neck, shoulders, upper chest, back, arms and feet.

"The use of physical force under the circumstances present here, against a woman substantially smaller than you and in the presence of powerful, military-style assault weapons, constitutes a significant act of violence in violation of the Personal Conduct Policy."

The 26-year-old has only just joined the Texas team from the Carolina Panthers
