Dallas Cowboys top Forbes's most valuable franchise list again

The Dallas Cowboys have been named as the most valuable NFL franchise for the seventh consecutive year in the Forbes list.

The Cowboys were valued at $2.3bn, around half-a-million dollars more than second-placed New England Patriots, who are worth $1.8bn.

Jerry Jones's side have not won the Super Bowl since 1996 but were given a big financial boost during the off-season due to AT&T's $400m deal for the naming rights to their stadium.

The Washington Redskins ($1.7bn), New York Giants ($1.55bn) and Houston Texans ($1.45bn) make up the top five, while the Oakland Raiders were named as the least valuable franchise, worth $825m.

None of the franchise decreased in value, with Kansas City Chiefs the only one not to increase as it stayed at $1bn.

The Baltimore Ravens, meanwhile, moved into the top 10 courtesy of their Super Bowl success.

The average value for an NFL franchise was $1.17bn, putting it above the average values of the top 20 football, baseball and basketball teams.
