Kansas City Chiefs remain perfect with six-point win

The Kansas City Chiefs maintain their 100% record this season with a 23-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

The Kansas City Chiefs have maintained their perfect start to the season with a 23-17 win over the Cleveland Browns this evening.

The Chiefs took the lead through a pair of Ryan Succop field goals in the opening quarter, the first coming from a 42-yard attempt and the second from 35 yards.

The hosts also claimed the first touchdown of the match as Alex Smith threw a short pass to Anthony Sherman, who raced his way around the defence and into the endzone for a 12-yard score.

Cleveland announced themselves on the scoreboard with a little under three minutes left of the first half when Jason Campbell's long pass found Josh Gordon on the edge of the endzone.

The Chiefs hit right back, however, when Dexter McCluster just about held on to Smith's 28-yard pass while falling into the endzone.

Billy Cundiff added a field goal for the Browns just before the end of the half, and they started the third quarter in scoring fashion too, Campbell finding Foswhitt Whittaker in space on the right, allowing him to race into the corner of the endzone for a 17-yard touchdown.

Kansas City sealed the win late in the fourth quarter, however, when Succop kicked a 40-yard field goal to give his side their first points of the second half.
