Josh McCown: 'I can help Johnny Manziel'

Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown believes that he can help Johnny Manziel get his career back on track following a poor rookie season with the club.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown has revealed that he will be doing his utmost to help Johnny Manziel establish himself in the NFL after a difficult rookie season.

The 35-year-old signed for the Browns on a three-year deal due to uncertainty over the quarterback position at the AFC North outfit.

Manziel is currently in rehab for personal problems, while Brian Hoyer is ready to test the free-agent market next month.

McCown is expected to begin the season as the club's starter, although he feels that he can be a guide to Manziel to get his career back on track.

"Just life in general is too short to go through it alone or just looking out for yourself all the time," McCown told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "So if you can give up yourself to others to help someone else in their journey, I just think you'll find so much more peace in life.

"So that's my approach when I head into a quarterback room. It's just what can I give back to the guys around me to help us be better? Because ultimately it's going to help our team.

"Johnny is a person, and every person that I come across has value to me and they matter, and so I want to help him as much as I can with all parts of it, but to grow as a person and as a player and to help him go on and have a fruitful career."

Manziel started just two games for the Browns in the 2014 campaign after being selected in the first round of the 2014 Draft.
